6. Is the Ark of the Covenant stored near Kahn and his crew? (Because that seems like a poor call.)

Some of the crew on the bridge are there to take over from the main crew when they need to go off on missions. They must be really bored. Although, probably not on that ship...

I could see being bored for the fill-in crew in the original series, but think about the sort of instant messaging / facebookish kind of things they must have access to from those computers! All I can think is that it is gossip-gossip-gossip ALL THE TIME.
