notes from my day o’ learning
Jun. 6th, 2013 07:09 pmYes, another “productive” day of “learning”! I had a great time not being at work, and instead being at a seminar about [checks workbook cover] “managing multiple objectives.”
My favorite part of the seminars is that they give you a workbook with all this blank space in it, and any time you are writing in the workbook it looks like you are working!
*Things In My Workbook That Were Perhaps Not Conducive To Engaged Listening, Though Luckily My Coworker Did Not Seem To Object*
1. A picture of a lighthouse (pretty proud of this one). Also, a picture of a rabbit (tiny), and the sun/moon/earth (not to scale).
2. My grocery list.
3. Several paragraphs of my current fic (in cursive, to make it harder for my coworker to read over my shoulder), including this sentence: Maybe she should write a memo — ‘So You Found Out You’re Married to Captain America in Another Universe, What Now?’
*Things In My Workbook That Were Actual Notes*
1. “80/20: feel free to apply this ratio to absolutely ANYTHING”
2. “lesson 3: business is ALWAYS personal”
3. “when this happens, I feel like punching something”
*Things In My Workbook That Were Unexpected*
1. My “stress” quiz told me I am “cool under fire.” I’m not sure if it’s a really poorly designed quiz, or if I just automatically lie on any work-related test.
*Last And Possibly Least: Fourth Grade Becomes Relevant All Over Again*
1. In fourth grade, we had to make “thought webs” as outlines for all our projects and papers and stuff. I’m not sure if this was because we didn’t know how to make a standard outline yet, or if the teacher just liked them better, or what. Apparently this process is now called “Mind Mapping,” and it is big moneys. There is software and everything. (I actually sort of loved the presenter trying to explain how awesome it was and how we all should invest in this software, because there’s really not much to say except, “There’s circles! And lines! You put your ideas in circles, and connect them with lines! Look, different colors!”) Who knew?
