I finally talked to my boss yesterday about getting off the security system call list, achieving the first of my anxiety-ridden goals for the week.

It went okay. We’re both horribly awkward people who are way too intimidated by each other for our own good. He tends to interpret everything in the worst possible way, and I tend to make everything a joke. It’s possibly a minor miracle that we’ve managed to get along at all for the last five years.

But the conversation is accomplished, and hopefully there will be no more middle of the night phone calls to the home phone about burglar alarms. (One, that phone rings nowhere near me, but does manage to wake up the rest of the house. Two, I live way too far away to be useful in an emergency.) Hard to say if the security company will still try to call my cell phone, but I did tell the boss that it would be off at night.
