@ home, day 4
Sep. 28th, 2013 07:33 pmBack from the expo! With much work to be done to get ready to be back at work. Tomorrow. (What was I thinking?)
I had a funny photo to share, but then I turned my phone off without sending it to myself. Tomorrow will have to suffice. Luckily, I have a funny story to replace it with!
So, background: one of our larger suppliers recently changed their logo as part of a rebranding thing. The new logo is a circle, broken into three symbols that look sort of paisley shaped, meant to represent the three fundamental areas of the company.
Today I went up to the representative for the company and explained that I had been going over the logo change with my coworkers, and we couldn’t figure out the third symbol. This was a super long buildup for this simple exchange:
Me: “We got that one is natural, and one is global. What’s the third?”
Rep: “Oh, yes. It’s cheese.”
::long pause::
Me: “Cheese?”
Rep: “Yes, cheese.”
And I’m thinking maybe she’s just had a long show, and this is her way of getting a giggle out of the morning, but the other company rep joined in with, “It represents the ‘fresh’ aspect of the company. That’s really a growing category; fresh foods.” And she said it, as far as I could tell, with all seriousness.
But I’m thinking: first, maybe lead with that in the explanation, so people don’t think that the three fundamentals of your business are natural, global, and cheese. And second, is cheese really a fresh food?
