updates from a vacation

This has been my thrilling week off between jobs — it’s been hard for me to balance the conflicting thoughts that I should be resting up or rocking out. There has been a lot of tumblr? And paperwork. Lots of paperwork.

In other news:

*The practice driving went well today. About two hours all told, but we didn’t go straight there or straight back, so 45 minutes is probably a solid commute estimate. (And we got lost once, sort of, but it was totally not my fault.)

*I have now reached the exalted point of the 1024 tile in 2048. (Once.)

*My FedEx packaged was delivered into the hands of the US postal service on Tuesday, and arrived here on Wednesday, two days ahead of schedule.

*X-Men Days of Future Past — what even is that about? I had sort of written it off after the beach divorce movie (X-Men First Contact? X-Men and the Cuban Missile Crisis? whatever that one was called), but some of the gifs floating around tumblr look pretty funny and non-tragic.

From what I can tell, being a non-comic reader; Wolverine comes back from a bad, Sentinel-overrun future to try and persuade Young Charles and Young Magneto to do - something - that will make sure there's no bad, Sentinel-overrun future for him to come back from. Featuring all your favourite mutants from both ends of the franchise, ie Patrick Stewart et al AND The Guy Who Is Young Charles et al. And Wolverine. Buzz is good but I don't think anyone, including press, has seen the whole thing yet.

That is an excellent description! Here's my next conundrum: I googled 'who is the fast person in the xmen days of future past movie' and google tells me it is Quicksilver. Who is also going to be in Age of Ultron. Isn't that crossing the streams? Maybe one of them is a clone; that seems like an appropriately bizarre comics explanation.

I think they're handling that by using the same actor, but in Ultron he is not allowed to call himself a mutant, and no one is allowed to refer to the source of his powers. Or maybe it's a different actor, but I'm quite sure on the referring thing. Doesn't make much sense to me, but then I am not a Hollywood exec. ::shrugs::

IDK how they decide these things... Have some interesting IMDB tidbits instead! Apparently, X-Men Pietro Maximoff is played by Evan Peters. MCU Pietro Maximoff is played by Aaron Tyler-Johnson. (Elizabeth Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff, and she and Aaron Tyler-Johnson also play siblings in the Godzilla movie coming out this year.)
