once more into… the MARKETPLACE

You wouldn’t think it would be so difficult to cancel an insurance policy. Then again, what about this system has been easy?
A summary of today’s adventure:
1. attempt #1: disconnected
2. I now know the initial questions by heart. “New Hampshire.” “Representative.” “No.”
3. New representative, new question! “When you applied for coverage through the marketplace, did you apply for the state you live in or some other state?” [not sure what the goal of this one is, honestly...]
4. I already have more sympathy for these folks, after just one and a half days answering phones at my new job.
5. They can’t find my application. I’m shocked. (Not really.)
6. After a significantly shorter wait time than last time, they assure me my enrollment has been cancelled, but that it can take up to 30 days to work through the system. (I am once again incredibly grateful I did not sign up for automatic payments.)
7. Back to waiting for confirmation from Anthem.
[NOTE: Each and every time I have called the exchange, the people I have spoken to have been SUPER NICE. I have zero complaints about the helpfulness and empathy of the people answering the phones. It's just a confusing system with a lot of parts that aren't always in line with each other. Or ever.]
