I know it’s been a long, cold, snowy stretch of weeks since Christmas, but I feel comfortable saying it’s probably time to think about taking down the Christmas decorations.

(Note: Not for individuals or houses or stuff — the heart wants what the heart wants, and if the heart wants 24 windows full of light-up candy canes well into March, I say go for it.)

But at the shopping plaza closest to my apartment, the town still has all these banners up that say “Seasons Greetings!” With a picture of a Christmas wreath underneath, so it’s not even like they could claim to be welcoming the season of spring instead. In fact, there are also still Christmas wreaths hung up on the outside of the stores. One restaurant I pass on my way to work is still encouraging us to “Book Our Christmas Party Early!” (Technically, this one could be on purpose? Hard to say.)

It’s honestly getting a little creepy at this point. It already sort of feels like the winter will never end, and the constant reminders of Christmas past are starting to become worrisome.
