For various work-related reasons, my work gmail account and my home gmail account are inextricably linked. Possibly it’s a chrome login thing; all I know is that it was an accident, and the internet indicates it can’t be undone without an exorcist or a total account deletion, or maybe both.

The thing is, my work gmail has that extension that shows how many new emails you have over the mail icon in the bookmarks bar. My home email does not. But the number shows up wherever I’m logged in — right now it says 20+. (Sometimes it says 9. Weirdly, usually only those two numbers.)

And the number doesn’t seem to correspond to anything. (For kicks, I just checked my work account — there are only two new emails.) So what is the number linked to? NO ONE KNOWS. It’s a gmail gmystery.
