Okay, first reaction — I liked it! Group hug!
Second reaction — If I wanted to watch a group of people exchange humorous quips while planning and executing a heist, I would have watched that *other* series.
Reaction in more detail (this is what happens when I wait 7 days to do a review) —
1. Possibly the most family-friendly of the FF movies. (I couldn’t watch the fight scene, but it was a limited part of the movie. Not like trying to cover your kid’s eyes through the entire *rat* scene in FF2).
2. I feel like they’re getting — cuter, somehow. Fluffier? Tamer? Which is nice in some ways, except that it kind of takes away from the whole “we’re criminals engaged in a highly dangerous lifestyle” aspect.
3. Plus, Goa? I know nothing about Goa except it was where Marie died in the second Bourne movie. Which of course, made me feel somewhat uneasy about the whole thing. (Also, how am I supposed to write fanfic now? Please come back to the States so I have a frame of reference!)
4. Which is not to say I didn’t like it! Because I did! I enjoyed many, many aspects of the film. (Since I know it’s been talked about, I thought the ‘Brian and Dom are in love’ aspect was pretty toned down in this one compared to the last, in favor of a ramped up ‘we’re a family and family is everything’ feeling.)
5. All in all, I’m really glad I saw it. I much prefer the lighter direction. I’d go see it again, except we’re watching Thor this weekend instead.
