notes from the field (trip)
May. 31st, 2011 09:52 pm1. The Long Drive North
I didn’t have to drive — yay!
2. The Boat Ride
Combining brunch with boating is *way* less boring than just boating on its own. Shoutout to the coffee gal on her first day of a new summer job!
3. The Inn
Holy wow, I’ve never been in an actual inn before. V.cool. Read a book (outside). Took a nap (inside).
4. Dinner (+unexpected mini golf)
My ability to perform physical skills (such as sports) diminishes exponentially with the addition of a ball and stick. I’m horrible at mini golf, but console myself with the thought that I’d likely be much, much worse at regular golf.
5. SLEEEEEEEEEEP
6. Breakfast, packing, balcony
My roommate had the uncanny ability to pack up in (I kid you not) ten minutes, at which point I had the room to myself, and was able to diminish the arctic chill of AC by opening the balcony(!) door. ::hearts::
7. Spa Time
I feel like I *should* like spa trips, but I spend most of the time just being bored. I did learn that a great ambidextrousness exercise is to swap hands brushing your teeth.
8. Where *Was* Everyone?
It wasn’t that big a place, but I kept losing track of folks. I started reading my next book, but had just barely reached the exciting telegram arrival when I was called to a group photo. Spent the rest of the day wanting to yell “Alas, Babylon!” at random intervals.
9. Adventure Ropes Course
All I can say is, the course didn’t even come close to scaring me as much as the drive to get there did. Must have burned out all my adrenaline thinking we were going to flip over and die in a horrible car crash; ropes course was fun. Came away with two bruises and one(!) black fly bite.
10. On The Road Again…
Everyone was too tired to make much of a fuss; listened to my new playlist with a sense of accomplishment.
