After trying to decide between Labyrinth and Green Hornet, I went with Step Up 3. It was — pretty weird, actually.

Cool Things:
1. It was fun seeing people from So You Think You Can Dance.

2. The dancing. I definitely complained about wanting more dancing in the first two Step Up movies, and this one had a lot more.

Boring Things:
1. 3D. What’s the point? Also, it made some of the scenes really odd-looking in 2D, like the whole slushee on a grate scene. What was that all about, anyway?

2. Ooh, plot twist with the sister. Yeah, even *I* saw that one coming. Really, from the beginning. (PS: The “plot” made no sense re: the financial situation of any of the characters. I tried to ignore it as much as possible.)

Weird Things
1. Moose and Luke, and their weird friendship-thing. It didn’t help that Moose looked about 12, and Luke looked about 30.

2. The shoes. First, everything about the shoe subplot (if you can call it that) was pretty odd, and it didn’t help that Moose *already* reminded me of that kid from Holes. Then the wall of shoes? What? And Luke brought shoes to the train station to give to Moose? I was confused, no lie. What was the significance of the shoes?

3. “Oh Moose, we need you to be at the 2nd battle — the whole team needs to be there or we’ll get called on some sort of technicality rule and forfeit the finals!” Except wait, they added like ten people to their team between then and the final show, so that argument made no sense. Handwaving all around.

Conclusion
The more I think about it, the less sense this movie makes. On the other hand, the dancing is pretty cool.
