One of the reasons I have so much trouble driving is that roads never look the same to me. A road at night? 100% different than that same road during the day. A road in the rain? 1000% different than that same road full of traffic.
Despite that, I decided to go home a (slightly) different way than usual tonight. In the dark. And all because I sort of remembered that my mom used to do this shortcut where she went right instead of straight and it was good.
So I did, and for once my memory was… sort of accurate, except for how I got really worried at one point and couldn’t figure out where I was, but then it turned out that somehow I took a left and I was — bam — at the intersection I was supposed to be at. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
OPTIONS:
a) There is a MAGICAL ROAD that only appears when you’re driving on it, because I go through that intersection EVERY DAY and can’t for the life of me figure out what road I was on tonight.
b) There is NO ROAD, but the universe took pity on my SAD, SAD SKILLS and transported me INSTANTLY to the right location.
c) The road is ALWAYS THERE but I have NEVER SEEN IT. (This is probably the most likely explanation, but perhaps also the most worrying for my actual driving skills.)
d) UNICORNS. (Not sure how this applies, but they’re showing up everywhere these days, and I just wanted to jump on the bandwagon.)
