shopping on Labor Day weekend

I have such mixed feelings about Labor Day weekend sales. On the one hand, I am pretty excited that I’m going to get 25% off kitty litter today at the hardware store. That’s a great savings! On the other hand, the whole idea of Labor Day is that it’s supposed to give people who labor a break from all that. (Like retail employees!) So it seems super sketchy that so many businesses are open on the holiday.

I have no conclusion. Just me and my mixed feelings, waving my Labor Day flag on my lonely hill.

[PS, and only tangentially related: I had TWO coworkers tell me this week that they have “never seen” a Prop 65 warning on any product, anywhere, ever. Not even that they didn’t *remember* seeing one. Total confidence: never seen one. Pretty sure my face took a journey, but I managed not to say ‘that sounds fake, but okay.’]
