marcicat | Belated Thursday Thank-You

As this is the traditional (United States) season of giving thanks, I’d like to offer my thanks to the Panera employee who took my order yesterday.

The Background:
I felt sick and stupid all day yesterday, pretty much, and there is not much that’s as depressing as working retail when no one’s buying anything.

The Happening
I have one of those Panera cards that gives you free stuff, and I knew I had a free smoothie available, so I asked for the strawberry one. Here’s where it got AMAZING.

“Would you like whipped cream on that?” she asked. “What?” I said. “Can I get that on a fruit smoothie?” And she said, “Sure, why not? It’s free, right? Go big.”

True to her word, my smoothie had whipped cream galore — so much it overflowed the top, even! It was DELICIOUS. The best smoothie I’ve ever had at Panera, I think. And I never would have experienced it if it wasn’t for that employee.
