marcicat | on drumming

So I was prompted to think about drumming this weekend, and what I like about it. Because I feel like it’s really fun, but I only do it in the car and at work, so I’m clearly not choosing to do it in my unstructured free time.

Then I realized that drumming (like foot tapping, or head nodding) is really just a generally socially acceptable way of stimming, and the whole thing made much more sense.

(This is definitely also why I try to put headphones on at work, because it’s even *more* acceptable if it looks like you’re bopping along to some tunes. If it happens to be that there’s not actually any music playing, who’s to know?)
