marcicatPerfectly logical and smart reasons to have a cell phone with you while hiking:
*call for help if there's an emergency
*maps, probably
*check the weather radar
I've never used my phone for any of those reasons while hiking. As of yesterday, however, I have now used it for one of the most ridiculous reasons ever:
*can't remember how to get collapsible hiking poles to un-collapse; have to go to manufacturer's website to watch an instructional video
(IT'S TOO EASY. SO EASY THEY DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO PRINT THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE POLES.)
Luckily, the only witness to this was a frog, and they politely kept any commentary to themselves.
