Two easy techniques for making the workday more fun:
1. Every time I see the word 'badge,' I mentally change it to 'badger.' My workplace has a lot of signs about not letting people in without a badge (it's all very Iron Man 3-ish, in the sense that it is pretty much the least helpful security ever, but they've really embraced it). Those signs would be so much better if they were about badgers. Make sure you bring your badger to work with you! Don't let someone in if they don't have their badger! If you forget your badger, call your manager so they can send you home to pick it up! (As a bonus game, it can be fun to decide who would have a European badger, and who would have an American badger!)
2. The 'if you know what I mean' game (thanks, 'Who's Line Is It Anyway'). Any time someone starts in with the business buzzwords, just mentally tack on 'if you know what I mean' to the end of their sentence. "We really got into the weeds on that phone call." ("If you know what I mean.") Full disclosure: this one did almost get me in trouble at the company meeting, when they kept talking about "blocking and tackling" and my brain added "if you know what I mean." By all reports my face Took A Journey, but I didn't actually laugh out loud, so I'm considering it a win.
