indoor camping
May. 23rd, 2020 06:02 amI figured I should give this 'indoor camping' thing a try, so yesterday afternoon I set up the tent (so much easier without the rainfly!). I thought it was very funny that the last time the tent was used, it was SO COLD.* And last night was Very Warm, so I had a fan going, but my brain was still like 'tent is cold; need warm blankets!' (Spoiler: I did not need warm blankets.)
So far, this is what I have learned from my indoor camping experience:
*I am really not committed as a method actor. I considered trying to more authentically re-create the camping experience, with things like not using the overhead lights, or eating breakfast out on the balcony. So far those things have not happened, so 'indoor camping' has actually just been 'I slept in a tent last night instead of in my bed.' But that doesn't sound nearly as cool!
*The cat checked out the tent right away but determined that it was Not A Threat Nor Very Interesting. She did seem to enjoy coming to meow at me at floor level this morning when she wanted breakfast, though.
*Since all my blankets and pillows are now in the tent, it has the happy side effect of leaving the bed empty (handy, since I now have zero floor space). Perfect space for stretching out and reading! (Haha, you know, just like if you were camping!)
[*I still can't believe we didn't remember that we had emergency blankets with us! It makes me laugh EVERY TIME.]
