There's going to be a thing today! A work thing!
Okay, so waaaaaaay back at the start of the year, I found out there was going to be a 'convention' (ie. training mixed with networking) hosted by one of the software programs we use at work. And I was like 'no thanks' because (officially) there wasn't much content related to the way we use the program, and (unofficially) I don't like travel OR networking.
But then! It moved online, because of course it did, so even though it's still not super relevant, it's much easier to attend.
AND THEN we got invited to participate in a panel (which was a big sign that not many people were attending, because we are not exactly prime panel material). Which was presented to me as 'roundtable Q&A,' and seemed potentially challenging, but after ten-ish years in customer service, it's not like I can't BS my way through just about anything at this point, so -- sure, why not?
Except then it turned out it was ACTUALLY going to be not that at all, and my participation is now (potentially) answering two pre-scripted questions (if there's time). ABSOLUTE BONUS: my boss will not be participating, but thinks that my participation makes both of us look good to THEIR boss, so it's really just winning all around.
