Be a Goldfish WEEK 8: Favorite Character Fiesta

As previously mentioned, my first idea was to crochet a 'quick' lap blanket in Perihelion's colors for The Murderbot Diaries. That's been slow going, even though it's also been a lot of fun.

Then xinger and I were talking about Week 8 ideas, and I said maybe I'd just post the blanket as a WIP, and they suggested what about a collage of WIP pics?

TA-DA!!!



I'd like to imagine that someone on Peri's crew might decide the way to make Murderbot feel welcome on its first (official) mission is to hand-crochet a blanket for it like this one. Because fiber arts are probably a big Preservation thing, and doing it in Perihelion's colors is symbolic of bringing the two groups of people together, or something like that. Also it's very soft. And someday it will be larger than a wide scarf / narrow shawl!

Decided to try art this week! Here's my take on what a PanSystem University of Mihira & New Tideland Student ID card might look like.

Headcanons I decided while I was working on this:

*The default option is a student photo. MB and Amena absolutely fought about it. The Preservation logo was the one option they were equally unhappy with, so that's what ended up on the ID.

*Every couple years, PSUMNT students circulate a petition to update the student ID art so that the line above 'Student ID' goes BEHIND the planet. Everyone agrees that would look better. The art is never changed.

*There's no academic reason for students to need a physical ID card. There are, however, a variety of card-centric traditions, including multiple drinking games which Amena hopes none of her parents ever find out about.

Just some peaceful explorers on a mapping contract, accidentally running into potentially dangerous fauna. (Of course it had to be in a cave.)

Murderbot drops off of ART's sensors for .03 seconds. Iris investigates, and finds a cat.

2nd in series. There are kittens on the Perihelion. They're pretty sure they're kittens, at least. 75% sure, maybe.

*the longest stand
Iris runs into a familiar face on a less-than-legal side trip.

*the side that I'm on
Murderbot and ART have feelings about learning to pilot a spaceship.

AU of Season 1, Episode 6 (the hopper repair and Leebeebee reveal). Murderbot comes up with an alternate suggestion.

AU after Season 1, Episode 9 (post-cliff dive scene). The team offers Murderbot a different path, and a choice.
