So last week I checked my Netflix queue, and right at the top was ‘Fast and Furious.’ Awesome. CAR CHASE MOVIE. Only — when my movie arrived, it was Tron. Not so awesome, despite the (surprisingly multitudinous) similarities between the two films.

I sent it back, checked the queue again, and yes, there was ‘Fast and Furious,’ looking available as ever, at the top. My movie arrived — it was Up. WHAT? Up is an adorable animated film about being a cranky old man — while excellent, it is not really the same (AT ALL) as a CAR CHASE MOVIE.

I considered an ANGRY email to Netflix, but was too lazy. Good thing, too, because the next day I got this email.

Dear Marci,

Fast and Furious was not available from your local shipping center. Fortunately, it was available from a shipping center in another part of the country. It’s on its way and should arrive within 3 to 5 days.

You’ll notice we also recently sent the next available DVD from your Queue to enjoy while Fast and Furious makes its way to you.

Your Queue now shows this extra DVD rental. Enjoy.

–The Netflix Team

Well. In that case, I thank you. (Sorry about the angry email I considered writing.)

Kradam Big Bang 2011

Surely anyone who was waiting for this already knew it was live, but I’m linking anyway. Just the posted summaries made me smile! (And cackle, just slightly, in anticipation of all those new stories to read…)

I have to work all weekend, which is frustrating, but I guess has made me do more today than I would have otherwise. Unfortunately, that’s still considerably less than I was hoping for.

SOME QUOTES, FOR GREAT JUSTICE

on technology

The man threw his hands up in the air. “They’re all reading as completely average Earth humans,” he said, sounding frustrated. “But a second ago the scanner said they weren’t there at all, and before that it said we had a basement full of lop-eared rabbits.”

on real estate

“Formerly Torchwood Four,” Donna corrected. “And the unbelievability factor was part of the appeal. Nice people, quiet town — we weren’t expecting the hidden school for mutants, but who does?”

on courtesy

He was pretty sure someone in the group would have been able to tell if ‘formerly Torchwood Four’ was secretly evil, or anything like that, but a heads up would be polite.
