mysteries of the universe (part 1)
Nov. 21st, 2011 08:29 pmThe Mystery Of Banking
I had no idea there was anything to be mystified about with regards to banking until yesterday, when a perfectly innocent conversation with a coworker revealed that I may have been banking *wrong* all this time.
See, I work at a store, and we go to the bank pretty much every day — get change, make deposits, that sort of thing. Whenever I go, I just hand over the bank bag and let them do their thing. I thought that’s how *everyone* did it.
But yesterday, we’re chatting at work, and my coworker says, “So I was over at the bank this week, and I had everything laid out for them just like they do, and [the teller] said it was so easy that way. She said when [another coworker] brings the banking, he confuses the hell out of them.”
Okay, WHAT? First, I have no idea what she was talking about. Are you supposed to set up the moneys for them like in Monopoly? How do I not know these things?
And SECOND, how could anyone *possibly* create confusion around our banking? It’s all written down! I’ve never had any trouble with it, and I don’t even do anything!
Basically, I learned that there are at least *three* ways to bank: the easy and helpful way (SADLY, DETAILS STILL A MYSTERY), the dullard’s way (MY WAY, SADLY AGAIN), and the ‘confusing as hell’ way (NOT SO MUCH SADLY BUT MORE WTF!BAFFLED).
Banking! Who knew?
