1. The story of how I ended up watching this movie is sort of long and detours oddly into Torchwood fanfic, but I liked it!

2. Interesting fact: I’m not that good at recognizing voices, but apparently Jamie Bell (voice of Tintin) also played Esca in The Eagle!

3. Snowy the dog = best character ever! (Love that he didn’t like the opera, though I think the opposite would have been even more funny.)

4. It was a refreshing change from Supernatural (“drink your troubles away!”) and the Avengers (“situations that can’t be improved by alcohol can be improved by lots of alcohol!”) to watch a movie where alcohol was (gasp!) bad for you! And had consequences! And people were proud of you when you stopped drinking it!

5. Did the butler creep anyone else out? I was a little creeped out, but maybe I just got caught up in the story — I sort of expected him to be in on it, actually.

6. I also felt a little weird shipping Tintin with the Captain, but this fic summed it all up with style: Well That Was Unexpected (by the Oblivious), by Elanor.

I’m working on transferring some of my “classic” reading from my external hard drive to my nook. (Right now I’m at the “wailing, moaning, gnashing of teeth and despairing for my sanity” stage.)

On the upside, some of these fics are awesome! And so much fun to go back and unearth them from the depths of my (*completely* unorganized) drive and reread.

For example:

The Milk and Cookies War, by Punk

In Lex’s head, Clark’s message sounds like this: “Hi, Lex. Is it okay if I come over tomorrow and drink milk in your kitchen without a shirt?”

Remember when Smallville was awesome? No, me neither, but that’s no reason not to enjoy the fanfic.

First, when it comes to exercising (say, on a treadmill-like machine), the Spiderman animated series from 1994 is a much better choice than Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes or Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes. The sound level is more consistent, there’s less plot to follow, and it’s funny!

Second, I go back to work tomorrow, which is sort of — it’s been *five days.* What if I’ve forgotten how to do my job? I have been studiously reminding myself of my alarm code, computer login, and copier password (cleverly almost all identical), but I have concerns!

Third, and I blame the internet entirely for this — my mental narration really needs to get itself out of “I have had it with these motherfuckin’ snakes on this motherfuckin’ plane!*” mode and back into something classier, preferably before I slip up at home or work and start interjecting profanity into every other sentence, Star Trek IV style.
(*From ‘Snakes on a Plane,’ of course.)
