note to self: midnight movies not the *best* idea you’ve ever had

I had this sort of idea that I’d go see the midnight showing, get back home around three, get four or five hours of sleep, and be good to go.

Yeah, no.

I *did* get five hours of sleep, then got up and managed to be relatively awake for a few hours after that. (I did a load of laundry, which was at least a solid accomplishment.) Then I went back to sleep at noon and didn’t get up till 4:30.

So that was a day. Specific thoughts about the movie to follow!

movie thoughts: Avengers

1. Yay! The Avengers movie is finally out! And I have seen it! Yay!

2. No single movie could compare to the epic-ness of the (literally) hundreds of thousands of words of fanfic I’ve read since last May.

3. Bruce Banner is awesome. Pepper Potts is awesome. I can totally picture both of them hanging out with Tony Stark being all ‘science is cool (and we are awesome).’

4. I had no idea how much of the movie was going to be about Natasha, but I am not objecting.

5. Lots of scenes from the trailers didn’t show up exactly the same in the movie — they were there, just not identical, or not in the same context the trailers implied.

6. The trailer scene where Maria says something about “we should have expected this to happen” did not appear at all, unless she said it and I missed it.

7. I would like to restate my assertion that Bruce is awesome.

8. I thought Steve was pretty cranky all the time, which I guess I don’t really blame him for. Perhaps if someone introduced him to jeans, hoodies, and the internet?

9. Phil Coulson wears his sunglasses at night. That’s right he does. And he looks — okay, no he didn’t look cool. Pretty much no one looks cool wearing sunglasses at night.

10. From my admittedly brief research, New York has a mandatory helmet law for motorcycles. (Maybe someone should tell Captain America.)
