Work does these meetings, where the execs stand up and say all the things company executives generally say. The fun part of the whole thing is that we often do these meetings “virtually” — aka the execs are in a room with each other, and everyone else calls in or joins on their computer.

You can do this from your desk, or join up with a group in a conference room. I usually go to a conference room because 1) sometimes there are snacks in there; and 2) it gives me a better excuse to not check email. It also makes the experience vaguely more social and you can all make faces at each other when something funny happens.

Because funny stuff ALWAYS happens! (Mostly from people who didn’t mute their end of the call.)

Special thanks to:

1. The person who gave a long sigh just as the meeting started.

2. The person who joined the meeting and left the meeting four times in a row about halfway through.

3. Always, always, that person who flushes the toilet. (There’s always one!)

4. The person who was driving and their GPS started talking.

5. And best of all, the person who sounded like they’d gotten into a fistfight, or possibly dropped their phone down some stairs, and then abruptly left the meeting without saying anything and never came back. (I’m pretty sure this is the best superhero reveal ever, just saying.)
