marcicat: (hug it out)

This has nothing to do with the seminar I went to on Thursday, except that I took this picture while we were walking around at lunch, and I thought ‘hey, that would be a fun icon.’

hugitout_icon

This was part of a much larger window painting, for a business I did not actually note the name of. Should have thought that one through better, obviously.

A couple days ago I took a picture of my hot chocolate (as one does):

hotchocolate

And then I thought to myself, “I wonder if that would make a good icon?”

And then I thought, “Don’t I already have an icon kind of like that?”

And THEN I thought, “Maybe I should categorize my icons, because that would be sort of like doing something productive, but more fun and less — well, productive.”

So, by the numbers:

Out of 99 icons, 20 of them are cats.

13 are birds, with a subset of 8 ‘birds standing on one leg.’

A whopping 29 are ‘other animals,’ including unicorns, dinosaurs, badgers, and the alot.

I’ve also got 11 ‘nature’ icons and five I lumped under ‘people.’ (Does Misha Collins need his own category?)

Which doesn’t at all add up to 99. But it did prompt me to make a suggestion to dw_suggestions about how awesome it would be to be able to sort by icons the same way we sort by tags.

[Questions:]

[Is a tiger a cat? Or, because it's Hobbes, should it count as fandom? What about a DW Dreamsheep Uhura? Computers, animals, or fandom? Do cat pawprints in snow count under cats, or nature? Do wings around a heart count as a person, or should I just accept the necessity of a miscellaneous category?]

Check it out! A cat in the hat that isn’t frightening to small children!

Also, what vacation is complete without more icons?

All my thanks to starandrea for my fantastic food icons!

This one’s my favorite (right now!):

Sooooo…….

I was just thinking, today, about how I have all of these awesome icons, and SOMEONE just upgraded my icon space, and you know what I don’t have any icons of?

Food. But I love food! A lot.

On the other hand, I just nabbed this cute owl icon from copperbadge today! Thanks, copperbadge!

Usually, I am the last to know everything. But just in case someone else hasn’t yet seen the personalized “ob is triple sorry” video song, I highly recommend it.

Because really, who doesn’t want an icon like this?

This one is maybe only nominally advent-y, but probably has as much relevance as, say, drinking a peppermint mocha (day 4). It’s on the list, though!

#19: Christmas icons.

I really wanted a Christmas giraffe, but settled for this adorable fuzzball instead.

I also wanted a Christmas sheep (IDEK, I was on an animals theme?). But I wound up with this Kashmir mountain goat, which is arguably cooler.

…And then, realizing that neither of those actually had any Christmas connection, I found this! (My thanks to whoever uploaded this; I found it wandering around google images in search of a good home.)

Happy advent!

I found another one!

Because one can never have too many icons of birds on one foot, right?

marcicat: (blue footed plush)

I wasn’t really planning to post anything today, because I’m ahead on posts for the month, and I figured I’d take a day off. But then I saw that icon of the blue-footed plushie, and I was all, “Ooh, I want to use that!” But what kind of post really goes with a plush bird standing on one foot? A random one, that’s what kind.

So here are some random things.

Although I used to take Claritin-D with no problem whatsoever, apparently in the last two years I’ve developed some weird side effects. Or else you really shouldn’t take that stuff after it’s expired.

It’s supposed to be unseasonably cool and rainy all week. Part of me is glad, because it’s a great excuse to drink lots of coffee and not exercise outside.

May is half over (ish) and I am making more progress on my fake goal than my real goal for the month. That is not how I planned it to go.

I have been putting off looking for a new (er) car for five months because it seems like so much work.

I seem to have a thing right now for pictures of birds standing on one foot. Yeah. I know, right?

But here’s some fun icons!

This one was from the tumblr page Good Stuff Happened Today.

The adorable Blue-Footed Booby.

And in plush!

1. watched twentysomething’s reaction post like a hawk, laughed muchly thanks to prompt’s like this:

Episode tag, where Dean has to explain to Cas exactly what went down in the alternate!universe (“You were some douchebag who tweeted!” “Why would I make bird sounds?”) (from anonymous) and lines like this:

His eyes are slightly red-rimmed but huge and frantic with joy and the baby craziness that has resulted in texts at three in the afternoon, saying is the nursery buttercream or daffodil? buying u a throw don’t want to clash (by twentysomething)

2. Thanks to starandrea’s wicked awesome screencaps, made a ‘Misha Collins, Yoga Superhero’ icon:

Yes, that is all.

Thanks jerakeen! My love for icons is encouraged by jerakeen’s icon posts (all available for use and modification).

Today was for hearts, of course.

There have also been aliens, snow, rainbows, and more.

I feel like I should make a color bar, or something, but there’s only seven minutes till Hawaii Five-0, and the cat just climbed into my lap.

From Your Personal Astrology Planner 2011: Aquarius:

JANUARY 20-22
~brave new world~
The Sun’s entry into your sign on January 20 brings you fresh energy and a new sense of purpose. Your personality shines brightly, garnering you more attention and making you an inspiration to others. Hopeful Jupiter shifts into courageous Aries on January 22, encouraging progressive thinking and bold speech that helps you to open minds. A renewed interest in self-education fuels you with facts that add substance to your opinions.

[When I was typing, I totally wrote "otters" instead of "others" the first time. But really, who wouldn't want to be an inspiration to otters?]

Also, starandrea made me icons! I love them ALL!

Also also, happy birthday to digitalruki; we’re birthday twins!

Thanks to starandrea and her wonderful Christmas gift to me, I’m planning a name change for both my dreamwidth accounts. This decision involved a significant amount of facepalming on my part, along with a somewhat alarming new love for icons, and should impact only a very small number of people.

Soon-to-be Changes
current marciratingsystem will be swapped and become marcicat

current marcicat will become marcicatverse (hopefully)
