I enjoyed watching it!
You know what it reminded me of?
Who’s Left and Who’s Leaving, by fiercelydreamed
Where’s Betty? Oh, tra la la, why would she be intensely interested in what the Avengers are doing? Nothing to see here.
Where are Pepper and Jane? Oh, off doing other things, ha ha, why would they be here? Very busy, you know how it is.
Where are Darcy and Ian? Who? No, no, they’ve gone off, we’re not tracking them, no idea what they’re up to at all.
Where’s Bucky? Oh, we don’t know. Nope. Still a Complete Mystery. No leads. Nothing. They say he’s a ghost, you know, have you heard that?
Where’s Pietro? Oh, he’s “dead.” Did I say that with air quotes? I meant dead, it’s very sad, so sad. Crying. These are tears. Tears of sadness.
Where’s Bruce? Oh, you know how it is, sometimes you just disappear off the grid in a stealth jet that no one can track, right? Nothing to worry about.
I’m just saying, one of the amazing things about fandom is alternate readings of the canon, and when I combine ‘the Avengers are aware that there is a much larger threat looming’ and ‘public opinion of the Avengers shifts faster than the wind’ it’s not a super far jump for me to get to ‘Avengers secretly build secret hideouts all over the world for secret planetary defense plan.’
It’s a secret. Obviously.
