marcicat: nano mug (nano mug)

My cat typed this when he sat on the keyboard this morning:

uH$
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%CV

I’m pretty sure that means GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS WORKING ON NANOWRIMO!!!

(Yesterday he managed to type a pi symbol. I didn’t even know you could do that!)

So, from both me and the cat, wishing everyone who is NaNo-ing a fantastic final day. starandrea, you’ve so got this!

I have been “working on” the same fic since March. I use that term loosely. Words were written in March. And words were written in August. Some words were also written between those times. It is possible none of the words follow a coherent narrative thread.

Someday I would like to be done working on this fic. I dream of that day. I look forward to the arrival of that day with great anticipation. That, I believe, will indeed be The Day.

These are the stages of writing for me:
1. excited!
2. writing!
3. excitement wanes; slowly slog to some sort of wrap-up
4. determine that the *next* fic will most certainly be better
5. repeat

Uh, yeah, so, nanowrimo was a thing that happened this year. Somewhat unexpectedly, and almost entirely because I am incapable of letting some things go. So that's where Hocus Pocus came in, and then if you're going to have one magical animal, you might as well go big or go home, right? So, crossover with Rise of the Guardians. Done.

[Note: This story was almost called "Sometimes when you promise forever," except I wanted to skip the sad part and go right to the happy part. It was also almost called "Speak the words we used to sing," because I have a tendency to title things whatever random phrase pops into my head at the right moment. Instead I went with option 3, which I blatantly stole from my Star Wars fic.]

Title: Every Dawn a Miracle
Author: marcicat

Summary: The whole thing felt ridiculously convoluted for a plan that essentially only had two steps: find Pitch and Max, and get them back to where and/or when they were supposed to be.

Could this be the day? Starting word count is 13,000. On-track goal for the day is 15,000. It might happen!
