How does that song go? “This is the worst trip I’ve ever been on”? I wouldn’t go quite that far, but it’s been a wild ride, and not always in the fun way. But the joy of nano-noveling isn’t in the *doing*, necessarily, but in the *having done* — looking back and going “I wrote this?! How did I do that?”

That’s where I am tonight. I wrote this?! How? Why? And in a nano classic, while skimming through the file: I don’t remember *any* of this!

But here it is. 50,000 words of fic. Amen.

title: this is how the world begins

word count:
summary: It’s the end of the world as we know it, and all the fandoms come out to play.

And really, was it that much of a stretch? Vegas had vacationing demons, Ohio had angels that ate pie, New York had masked superheroes. Okay.

Note 1: I have not read through this fic. At all. Edits/fixes still to come; posting now as a placeholder and proof of finishing.

Note 2: Somewhere along the way I apparently decided ‘chimerae’ was an acceptable pluralization of ‘chimera,’ despite all logic and grammatical evidence to the contrary. Sorry about that.

I watched Voyage of the Dawn Treader (again) last night (instead of writing). Now I’m reading fic about the the movie (again), also instead of writing.

I didn’t think I’d read that much Narnia fic, actually, except that I kept expecting them to come to the floating island in the movie, which I realized (after the movie ended, and there was no floating island to be seen) that I was remembering On a Transparent Belt of Ether, by keire_ke.

And you really can’t go wrong with tummyrubs, so here’s Five Times Aslan Got Tummyrubs, by citiesfalling.

Three (3) reasons why this fic was written:

1. because I thought to myself, “it’s January, I should write something”

2. because badgers are internet famous, yo

3. because everyone should have the chance to use the line “It really *was* a robot head” at some point

The Badger Fic

It’s a movies-only, multi-fandom silliness project. Tron, Inception, Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia), Fast & Furious, Stonehenge Apocalypse.

*Back* to Narnia? Well. The mind boggled, didn’t it?

marcicat: (like this fic alot)

I have spent *hours* today reading fanfic. I did not take an afternoon nap, but I’m not really sure “reading fanfic” in any way trumps “sleeping” as a productive activity.

Anyway, somehow I got from Tron to Chronicles of Narnia, and this fic:

Sea Legs, by st_aurafina

It’s Eustace and Edmund and Lucy after ‘Voyage of the Dawn Treader,’ and they muddle through and go sailing together at Brighton.

It is wonderful to feel salt spray on his face and to hear birds calling overhead, a reminder that there are wonderful things in this world too, things that Narnia has taught him to appreciate.
